You are why I created this page. Here you will find exactly what you need to get started with P90X and step by step instructions on how to begin. P90X

What You Will Need To Get Started


1) A Place To Do Pull Ups

2) A Good Yoga Mat

I can't stress enough how important a good yoga mat is. You'll be using this for yoga, "Ab Ripper X", and some of the other workouts. A poor mat can leave your tailbone exposed to a hard floor. Speaking of tailbones, some people will even want MORE padding when doing Ab Ripper X. I know some folks that fold a towel a few times and lay it under their tailbone.

3) Dumbells and/or Resistance Bands

People ask me all of the time, which is better, dumbbells or resistance bands. I tell them both. Each has advantages.

Resistance bands can be used throughout P90X in place of the dumbbells. In fact, one of Tony's "kids" (as he calls them his workout buddies in the P90X workouts) will be demonstrating the exercise using a resistance band. Million Dollar Body carries "B Lines" resistance bands. You can check out the B-Lines resistance bands in the MDB store by clicking here. 4) Heart Rate Monitor

Beachbody recommends that you use a heart rate monitor to gauge your intensity and progress during workouts. They have a nice monitor made by Reebok in the MDB Store.

5) Yoga Blocks

These are also recommended by Beachbody/Million Dollar Body to use during Yoga. The blocks offer added support to assist with balance while holding certain poses. The MDB Store carries them.

6) Body Fat Tester

This will give you an accurate reading on your body fat throughout the program. These are available in the MDB Store.

7) Push Up Stands

Things To Do Before You Start P90X


Step 1: Watch the How to Bring It video.

Step 2: Record your measurements. This step is very important, because you may not see the results of your hard work when looking at the scale or while comparing your Day 1 pics to you Day 30, 60 and 90 pics. But you will see them in these numbers. Your measurements should include:

Body Fat %
Weight
Chest
Waist
Hips
Right Thigh
Left Thigh
Right Arm
Left Arm

Step 3: Take your before photos. Then post them somewhere you will see them every day. Take a long hard look at these pics, because if you follow the program as designed you will never look that way again. Posting them in the Beachbody Message boards is also good for accountability and motivation, but more about that later.

Step 4: Take the Fit Test. Another very important step, because as I learned some people just are not ready to start P90X. Don't worry it is nothing to be ashamed of, P90X is extreme! Should you discover you are not ready for P90X message me and I can steer you towards another work out which will get you ready to tackle P90X. (More about this in the post below.)

Step 5: Get your kitchen in order. Wow, I can't tell you how crucial this is to your success with P90X. I recommend to most of the people I coach, that once you decide to take on P90X, that you spend atleast a week before beginning P90X, cleaning out your kitchen. Get rid of all the junk food you have, remove all temptations. Your diet is as important if not more then exercising to your success.

Step 6: Go to the Beachbody Message Boards for motivation, accountability and support. This is probably the most underated of all the steps. I can't tell you how many times I have turned to the message boards, when my frustration level was at a critical level.

Recommended Supplements


1) Beachbody Peak Recovery Formula:

3) Whey Protein Powder:

P90X demands A LOT from your body. You have to fuel it with enough protein. Protein is a key component in your first 30 days of p90X. Protein is harder for the body to break down. As it is working harder to break the protein down, it has to burn more calories. There's a novel idea%u2026Have the body burn calories while you're doing nothing! Brilliant!

One of the cleanest and best sources of protein is Whey Protein Powder. Beachbody sells a great tasting chocolate and vanilla flavor. I recommend Vanilla.

I personally have not tried Beach Body's Whey Protein, I currently use GNC's Whey Protein. Which I have been happy with, but I will most likely switch once my supply runs low.

4) P90X Peak Performance Protein Bars:

The P90X Nutrition Guide calls for performance bars during your first 60 of the 90 days. They are phased out in the last 30 days. The main thing with an energy protein bar is to find something you like.
